Hoveton and Wroxham Travel Clinic

Travel Medicine is a rapidly developing subject that involves many fields of medicine and is committed to the avoidance and prevention of health problems associated with travelling.

We are learning more about the risks to health caused by travelling, just as we are travelling more frequently, further and to more exotic locations than ever before.

Travel Medicine relies on a detailed assessment of the individual travelling and their health, as well as the potential risks involved in reaching and then staying at their destination.

The emphasis is placed firmly on education of the risks, and how to minimise these – which may for certain destinations involve medication or vaccinations.

For us to accurately and efficiently advise you, we ask that you complete a pre-travel health form (available on-line or from reception) with as many details as you can.  This should be filled out, and an appointment booked, as early as possible once you know your travel plans. We unfortunately cannot guarantee to see anyone booking late and certain vaccinations cannot be given close to the actual day of travelling for safety reasons.

Your appointment will be with our Travel Specialist Nurse, Marion Lodge, who has great experience in this area. The Travel Clinic is run in partnership with Dr Morley who has experience in altitude and diving medicine. Both of us have been trained at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, attend regular refresher courses and we are an accredited Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.

If vaccinations are considered appropriate for your itinerary, these will be discussed with you. Some are available on the NHS whereas others require payment. There are strict rules governing this. Tablets to reduce the risk of malaria are available only on a private basis.

For those travelling away from recognised health facilities we also supply medications that may be required whilst travelling including those for diarrhoea and altitude sickness, and sterile, safe Medical Travel Packs which include your own needles, cannulas and sutures. Please ask to see our current price list.

Please go to the Travel Imms section of 'Services and Clinics' to download the Pre-Travel Health Form.

Happy Travelling!
